The End of Icebergs

This book presents the body of work *La fin des icebergs* that artist Daniel Corbeil has been developing since 2018. In addition to a photographic narrative, the book includes analytical essays on his practice, images of his previous installations, and behind-the-scenes photos. *La fin des icebergs* draws inspiration from the language of comic books and photo novels through a series of fifteen narrative sequences. The artist’s narrative is developed using very large-format drawings and models created from found objects.

Here, the artist expresses concerns about the transformations of the northern landscape caused by climate change. The work depicts how, in the near future, a group of environmental activists seeks to draw public attention to the operations of a climate engineering research station. The artist presents the clash of opposing viewpoints in this vision of a future that risks becoming an environmental tipping point.

*The End of the Icebergs* is a climate-themed work of fiction that offers a glimpse into some of the challenges and consequences of the current environmental crisis in the future. The vision of the future depicted in the film is grounded in an illusionist aesthetic that invites viewers to question the boundaries between truth and fiction in the representation of reality.
