Ysé Raoux

Ysé Raoux holds a MFA (Université du Québec à Chicoutimi) and is interested in the notion of landscape, in relation to the still life genre. Driven by a desire to create paintings in which the plant is the central element, Ysé works with photography, sound, video and sculpture through immersive installations in which the mediums dialogue together. Her works are based on a highlighting of the plant's state and its spatial placement. The resulting intersection makes it possible to reveal an apparatus that prompts contemplation. The plant has a metaphoric character, it invites viewers to reflect on their own condition through the intermediary of works that magnify the state of decomposition. In proposing a reflection around the degradation of the plant, Ysé Raoux raises questions about the evocation of death inside her works.

Ysé Raoux' works are been shown in several group exhibitions in the artist-run centres Le LOBE and the gallery l’Œuvre de l’Autre in Chicoutimi. She has also carried out a creative residency followed by an exhibition at Chapelle des Cuthbert (Berthierville). Recently, her exhibition Être précaire was presented at the contemporary art centre Langage Plus (Alma). Several of her works are part of the collection of Université du Québec à Chicoutimi. Ysé has been working as a communications director at the artist-run centre Le LOBE since 2019.
