At the core of Payam Mofidi’s works are his unique lyrical aesthetic language and the epistemological approach he uses to narrate and create his works. In his works, he predominantly deals with paradoxical notions; power and decline, agony and comfort, innocence and impurity and in many cases he portrays his characters in situations in which they seem to trapped in loops, which act as metaphorical signifier of contemporary man's current social reality and the global society of order and control.

Born in 1980 in Tehran, Iran, Payam Mofidi is a multidisciplinary artist based in Montreal. He began learning painting and drawing at an early age and after studying graphic design at the university in Tehran he moved to Paris to study video-animation at “Ecole National superieur des arts décoratifs,”where he obtained his MA degree with honours. Inspired by animation, character making and storytelling, he explored video art and experimental animation and developed his own unique approach to art by incorporating methods used in video and animation making. He then extended his field of work to other mediums like sculptural and video installations. Mofidi’s work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Iran and internationally, in addition to being featured in numerous festivals and events worldwide. Such as the Tehran National Sculpture Biennale of the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art, the Istanbul International Art Fair, the exhibition platform Framer Framed in Amsterdam, etc.
