Tanha Gomes and Sandrine Côté, a collaborative duo of multidisciplinary artists and cultural workers based in Tiohtià:ke/Mooniyang/Montréal, are invested in the dynamics of co-creation and in practices that highlight the personal and collective experiences of the various communities with which they collaborate. They met in 2016 while pursuing their master’s degrees in Art Education at Concordia University (Montréal) and have since been collaborating on various artistic projects within communities. Through projects emphasizing dialogue and collaboration, they hope to provide safe spaces for contemplation, discovery and experimentation that foster imaginations of more equitable futures.
Their central project, Petit guide pratique pour un banquet imaginaire, which has been unfolding in a series of chapters since 2021, explores the themes of hospitality, care and solidarity. Their artistic installations result from a creative process involving various communities, and uplifts different forms of welcoming and sharing — which are particularly essential in this period marked by social and political instability and turbulence.
The project been exhibited at the Maison de la culture Janine-Sutto (Nos maisons, group exhibition, 2022), at the Maison de la culture Notre-Dame-de-Grâce-Monkland (solo exhibition, 2022) and at the Maison de la culture du Plateau-Mont-Royal (2025). In autumn 2026, a new iteration of the project will take place in Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, Montréal, as part of the Mange ton quartier ! initiative. The exhibition will be presented in 2027 as part of a tour, including the Maisons de la culture Mercier and Maisonneuve.
