Julia Piccolo is a multidisciplinary artist and researcher who holds degrees from Beaux-Arts de Nantes and École des hautes études en sciences sociales (EHESS, Paris). Her work forges links between textiles, decorative arts, architecture and computers. Drawing on art and architecture history, media theory and feminist thought, she creates colourful, organic installations in which paintings, sculptures and digital videos merge and respond to each other. Textiles, which she uses for their inherent conceptual principles, are the common thread running through her work. She crafts this material and transposes its aesthetic qualities: its fluidity, its organicity and its relationship to clothing as well as wallpaper, notably due to its patterns. Her works are as much about body image as they are about architecture, thus instigating a dialogue between the envelope and its interior.

Julia Piccolo's work has been shown in various exhibitions in France, Canada and Belgium. After a residency at Ada X in Montreal and group shows (Art Souterrain, Galerie Galerie, L'Atelier Presse-Papier...), she presented a solo show at Diagonale in Montreal, titled "Stretch" in the spring of 2023.
