Emily Spooner is a visual artist based in Tiohtià:ke/Mooniyang/Montreal. Her artistic practice spans painting, small-scale metalworking, and installation, and is concerned with engaging the psyche through intuitive creation. At its core, this process involves tuning in to and engaging with imagery, forms, and colours that hold an intuitive draw in a certain moment, allowing stories to emerge from the interactions between these points of interest.
Spooner holds a BFA from Concordia University and has exhibited work at the FOFA Gallery (2025), Artch (2019), Wishbone Gallery (2025), Fondation Rad Hourani (2020) and SÍM Hlöðuloftið (2023). She has completed residencies at SÍM (2023), Concordia University (2020), and Artscape Gibraltar Point (2022), and is currently undertaking a mentorship with New York-based scenic designer Christine Jones. Over the past year, she has also been developing a collaborative practice with artist Jeff Mann, where they create video-based work centred on puppetry, scenography and theatre.
Emily Spooner has been selected by Vaste et Vague for the PRÉSENCES project. Following her residency at Centre SAGAMIE, she will take part in a group exhibition at Vaste en Vague in summer 2026.
