Weaving together words and images, Anne-Marie Proulx creates poetic worlds drawing on our conversations with the land and our relationship with language. Her ongoing projects are rooted in her considerations on the mutual bonds that must be formed and maintained with our natural environment, a reflection stemming from an exchange of ideas and perspectives, thanks in part to an Innu-Quebec friendship and various collaborative approaches.

Her work has been presented in solo exhibitions (Vox, Arprim, Espaces F, Vaste et Vague, Maison de la littérature in conjunction with Manif d'art 9, Galerie des arts visuels de l’Université Laval, Occurrence in conjunction with MOMENTA biennale, YYZ, Panache art actuel, La Centrale) and was also included in group exhibitions in Québec and Canada (AdMare, Arprim, Capture Photography Festival, Est-Nord-Est, Fonderie Darling, Galerie UQO, Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal, Rencontres internationales de la photographie en Gaspésie, Regart). Her works were also shown internationally in collective exhibitions in the UK, Austria and France. Her photobook Le jardin d’après was published by Éditions Loco in 2021.

Engaged in her community, she has been working since 2014 as Codirector of VU, centre de diffusion et de production de la photographie. She lives and works between Saint-Roch-des-Aulnaies and Québec city, along the large river beside which she grew up and which shores are being frequented by the Wendat, Wolastoqiyik, Innu, Abenaki and Atikamekw for thousands of years.

Aires de création project

Aires de Création project allows artists to carry out a research/creation residency at Centre SAGAMIE prior to the distribution of their work in one of the project's partner exhibition centers:

  • ARPRIM centre d'essai en art imprimé (Montreal)
  • Centre d'art Jacques et Michel Auger (Victoriaville)
  • Centre national d’exposition (Jonquière)
  • Galerie L'Œuvre de l'Autre (Saguenay)
  • Regart, centre d'artistes en art actuel (Lévis)
  • Langage Plus (Alma)

Initiated by Centre SAGAMIE, this program favours the implementation of a chain of collaboration between the centers, in order to support and disseminate the artists' projects. This project is made possible thanks to the contribution of each partner artist-run centre and the financial support of the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean Territorial Partnership Program under the Partnership Agreement between the CALQ and the MRCs of the region.
