Marie-Andrée and Aleksi Gill are two artists from the Pekuakamiulnuatsh Nation who live in Nitassinan, Saguenay–Lac-St-Jean. They explore the interplay between quantum physics, Ilnu (Innu) mythology and the contemplative philosophies of Southeast Asia. They attempt to name the wonder of being here in this moment, of thinking, of being born (but are we truly born, or are we merely a continuation of the universe?).
Using only the materials they believe they know – their own experience and limited language – mother and son share texts and illustrations and reflect together on how to open up a profound perspective in humans as they seek meaning and contemplate immensity. Nothing less.
