Collection Loto-Québec, Centre SAGAMIE and the curator Julien St-Georges Tremblay are pleased to present the selected artists for Intermingled Dialogues.

The four selected artists will be invited to create original artworks. This quartet of unprecedented projects will be paired with artworks from the Collection Loto-Québec in view of creating a group exhibition which will be presented at Centre SAGAMIE in the fall of 2023. Around twenty works from the Collection Loto-Québec, chosen by the curator, will thus be linked with the propositions of the artists.

Description

Loto-Québec and Centre SAGAMIE are inviting professional, emerging or more established artists, of all visual arts practices to submit a proposal as part of the Intermingled Dialogues project, curated by Julien St-Georges Tremblay. This group exhibition project aims to bring about a forging of links between the contemporary art milieu and some of the 5,000 artworks of the Collection Loto-Québec.

The exhibition's identity will take shape through an exchange between the curator and the artists; all the while being backed by the Centre Sagamie team, as well as Loto-Québec. The final form of this collaborative project will be presented at the Centre SAGAMIE in the fall of 2023.

Application terms

Artists wishing to submit their proposal must send it in by November 15, 2022 at 11:59 pm EST. The application must include the following:

  • A text describing their artistic approach, maximum 300 words;
  • Five (5) images of recent works (jpg compatible Mac RVB 1024 x 768 pixels by 72 ppi files);
  • A résumé;

The proposal must be submitted in a compressed .zip file or via Wetransfer to: coordination@sagamie.com. Selected artists will be informed of the jury's decision at the latest by January 16, 2023.

Deadline

September 15, 2022: launch of the call for proposals
November 15, 2022: end of the call for proposals
January 16, 2023: presentation of the selected artists
August 17 to October 10, 2023: exhibition at Centre SAGAMIE (Alma)

Funding terms

Fee of $ 1,500 for the production of the artwork/ per artist
CARFAC exhibition fee for the duration of the presentation

A collection for the benefit of all

The Collection Loto-Québec, brings together close to 4,900 works of art created by more than 1,200 artists. Since its founding in 1979, the Collection has been an important link in Québec's artistic heritage through its fostering of contemporary visual art practices and its contribution to the visibility of Québec artists. Eager to ensure that its collection remains vibrant, viewed and appreciated beyond its premises, Loto-Québec has put in place a series of activities to make art accessible throughout Québec.

Centre SAGAMIE

Centre SAGAMIE is a production centre dedicated to contemporary art whose research and creation activities are linked to contemporary image issues. The centre specializes in digital printing and micro-publishing residencies. It also has a mandate to disseminate the work of artists through exhibitions and publications that are tailored to contemporary artists' needs.

Julien St-Georges Tremblay

Julien St-Georges Tremblay is an art historian and a candidate for an MA degree in art history. His thesis focuses on the interrelations between ephemeral intervention art and the territory. Since 2013, he has been a cultural outreach facilitator for the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, the Symposium international d'art contemporain de Baie-Saint-Paul and the Mois multi. Also an author, he wrote the introductory essay for the catalogue of the 2017-2018 Première Ovation grant recipient group. As a cultural columnist, he has written for the magazines Inter, Art actuel and Vie des arts. He was a member of the Jeunes commissaires selected as part of the last Manif d'Art - La biennale de Québec edition.
