Morgane Clément-Gagnon's practice of self-representation sits at the intersection of photography and performance, with a specific interest in kitsch, costumes, stagings, and cyberculture dominated by images and screens. Through a closed-circuit shooting technique using her iPhone as both a monitor and camera trigger, she creates a mise en abyme of the selfie. She uses her images and their titles as strategies for activating dialogue on contemporary issues such as gender identity, internalized patriarchy, the multiplicity of feminisms, the ecological crisis and the sense of apocalypse, the value of art and social performance.

Morgane Clément-Gagnon is currently completing her MFA in Visual and Media Arts at UQAM. Since 2017, she has participated in artist residencies on the local and international scene (Résidence nomade, Centre SAGAMIE, Praksis in Norway and SIM in Iceland). Her work has been exhibited at Espace F, GHAM&DAFE, Arts Sutton, among others, and will be the subject of solo exhibitions in 2024 at Atoll Art Actuel, as well as at the Centre d'art de Mont-Laurier. She received the Bourse institutionnelle de soutien à la réussite as well as the Fonds de la Faculté des arts de l'UQAM, both for the excellence of her academic record.
