Magali Baribeau-Marchand's visual arts practice takes shape in hybrid creations combining sculptural installation, animated images, printed images and drawing. She is interested in a possible re-enchantment of relationships – to oneself, the other and nature, through a sampling and highlighting of landscapes that she has lived in, travelled through and been touched by. In recent years, her artwork has been brought to life during art residencies in Quebec, Belgium, Russia and France, as well as in a variety of artistic and cultural exhibitions and events.

During her research/creation residency at Centre SAGAMIE, she will focus on the idea of the mediated landscape. This approach is based on researcher Teresa Castro's concept of the mediated plant, which posits that the sentient part of plants is influenced by the way we look at them through technological media that represent and animate them. Against an ecopoetic backdrop, Magali Baribeau-Marchand will work with the image as a habitat: a place to sharpen our sense of wonder, fascination and attachment.
