The place of the human being in nature, spirituality and the imaginary linked to nature, recounted human history, hybridized cultural identity, the changing land are some of the themes I focus on as part of my practice. I explore various places across the world and I document them to fuel my research. Proceeding like an ethnologist, I observe and document the social and cultural characteristics, history and myths, folktales, rituals, as well as the atmosphere emanating from these places. Photographic documentation, drawings and field notes are then submitted to a deconstruction-reconstruction process, whereby I interpret the collected images and information in my way so as to assimilate them with my personal iconography. My works thus evoke something enigmatic, arcane or mysterious. Through this approach I attempt to create a sort of visual and universal narrative, one that is simple, evocative and open to interpretation. These visual stories or these “supernatures” are often rendered as open-ended graphic novels or contemporary photo stories.
